Posting and Viewing Pics
« on: December 24, 2010, 08:51:05 AM »
Does anyone remember before the crash? Pics would be there to view when you loaded the page. No bullshit, just start scrolling. Now we have thumbnails you click on Loading... Loading... Loading... Loading... Shit it's not working. Reload page... click on pic  Loading... Loading... Loading... Loading... oh there it is. Click on next arrow... Loading... Loading... Loading... Loading... Loading... A few people who are very active on this site have taken to posting their trail pics on FIBC because of this. FIBC is running our old system. Simple and works great. Any ideas?

Sounds like an issue with your internet connect if it can't load pictures and sits at loading; you're the first one to say there is an issue in 6 months

And FIBC is not running the same system as us, not even close. vBulletin vs SMF

I just noticed that some people can still post pics the old way. http://www.bcjeepclub.ca/index.php?topic=9657.msg112345#new Any chance someone could post up how to do it this way and maybe make it a sticky in the Trail pic section?

They're using photobucket instead of attachments. I went and changed the settings, images are no long displayed as a thumbnail.... now I need to figure out how to get the forum to resize attachments ... People are always trying to upload massive high res 3mb per picture images

Just because I'm the 1st to mention it doesn't mean I'm the first to hate it. [lmao]

[lmao] I learned that lesson a long time ago. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that most people aren't running lightning fast, cutting edge PCs. I know that if most people on here have an extra $1000 kicking around it will probably go for a new air locker...not a new PC. [lmao]

M'eh. You can get a lightning fast laptop for $400 nowadays, but I get your point.  It's not where most of us funnel our money.  That being said, the site isn't exactly complicated and we're not going to build it according to the lowest common denominator.  You can choose to use photobucket or upload them to this site.  We all have the same options.

Which browser are you using? I know this site works seamlessly in firefox even on my slowest computer.

The issue is people attaching mega huge images. The thumbnail fast as its 40-80kb (0.040mb), but then when you click it .. it's loading a 3mb image, which on dialup would take 535 seconds to load

You shouldn't be allowed to own a camera over 3.1 megapixels if you don't know how to resize!

I have a pretty good computer and images still take a while to load from the thumbnails, which is why I upload everything to photobucket first if I can.

I`ve given up on clicking the pictures too, I have a new laptop and a great internet connection and it still takes forever to load

Drives me nuts, but I don't have photobucket either

Everybody's annoyed, but everybody's too lazy to resize photos or you use photobucket... therefore, nobody really gives a shit to fix anything themselves, they just want to bitch and moan and accomplish nothing.

If that's the case, as far as I'm concerned. This isn't a problem.
