One of the other forums Im on tried using an out of forum classified engine.  You had to enter the classifieds from a button on the top (like up where it says Decals, Calendar, etc) and then go thru the classifieds folders that way.

It was an absolute failure.

Most people just click on the Buy/Sell link IN FORUM to browse just like they do with General Discussion, Product Reviews, etc.

Having a complex Buy/Sell engine that isnt absolutely 100% easily accessable drives away browsing.

actually ive been a member on several forums ranging from a couple hundred to +50,000 members that have tried to do a classified system that isnt forum based.  every one failed, and they went back to the regular in forum system

my 2bits

FS Whole Vehicles
FS Vehicle Parts
FS Other

WTB Whole Vehicles
WTB Vehicle Parts
WTB Other

Splitting up the parts into categories wont work since a lot of people put a few things in one post.
actually, i think this works really well.

You are correct my friend. My goal is to 100% integrate the classified system within the forum software running as a 'package' in SMF world. Each listing would still be displayed like a topic/thread, but a lot more useful.

I'll hire you to test the system before we go live.

If it ain't broke....don't "fix" it... When you click on buy and sell you are presented with a list of posts. If you see something that interests you. Click on it.....HOW THE FUCK DO YOU SIMPLIFY THAT? ??? ??? ?....(End Rant).
